Congratulations for your endeavors ! Beginning to learn the piano is difficult. Perhaps you tried to enclose too much material at once??

Maybe it is much better to go very slowly, practice hard a piece of material until you really master it..and only JUST THEN move to the next one.

That is, working “step by step”, little steps, though…Good luck ! Let us know later on how are you doing !

I have been playing since I was 5.. and I still can’t read music correctly, I mostly play by ear, and can’t play much of anything except my own silly tunes.
some people just dont get it….
I love Piano, its the most beautiful instrument… so I keep tinkering on it, but like I said 17 years of trying and NOTHING!! lol

I took piano lessons years and years ago and I was learning quite well. The only problem was that I would much rather play out side and climb trees that practice my piano and my mother had fits with me about this. One day instead of practicing like I was suppose to be I was climbing a tree and fell and broke my arm.

The piano got sold and I was a happy “tom boy” from then on!

Yes I do wish today that I could play. : )

Good for you!! :) I gave up on any kind of keyboard when I found out my fingers behaved like rolling pins even though I took piano AND typing lessons. My ears were much better and I was a great sounding board when my husband finished and eventually got his degree in teaching piano.

Yeah, it was hard at the beginning. After that it got better and better. But then I bumped into a new problem: going on.
It was very hard for some time to stick to it and keep going on. Because after a while you feel like you want to play really difficult music and when you notice you can’t do it yet you feel like giving up.
When you get over that feeling and just go on you’ll be able to play the Rondo Alla Turka in no time.

It could be your teacher and their teaching method. You may want to try another instructor. I took to piano very easily and did well at it. I know the “exercises” can be drudgery, but they are important in developing technique. Keep it up!
